Joseph Phillips is an award winning Composer, Producer, Playwright, Husband, Father, and as of yet non-award winning amateur american football quarterback. He recently graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Commercial Music and Theatre Arts and works as a dance accompanist, music producer and audio engineer, and private teacher.

He loves his wife Kali, his son Nathan, a nice mutton lettuce and tomato sandwich, and making people laugh. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served a full time mission for the church in Singapore and Malaysia in 2018.

Phillips’ credits as a composer and producer include several film and theatre projects: Life After (Documentary); Wonder (Advanced Fiction Project); Thanksgiving (Short Film); Frame by Frame (Short Film); 48 Hour Musical Theatre Festival (Composer, 2021 and 2023); Microburst Playwriting Festival (Accompanist and Composer, 2023 and 2024); City of Women (Devised Theatre Piece).

He has written the book, music, and lyrics to two musicals, Shackleton and Fed Up! Both of which have been competitively selected for the WDA workshop with acclaimed dramaturg Shelley Graham. Shackleton was awarded Best Musical in the Vera Hinckley Mayhew competition and was a semi finalist in the Dramatist’s Guild Foundation Fellows program. Fed Up will be showcased at the 2025 Harrington Center for the Arts Exploration of New Musicals.
